This is my Dream.......
Why Venice?
  • Venice, Italy is one of the world's most beautiful cities.
  • It is a city that should be seen with a loved one.
  • I want to visit there with someone special because it is the most romantic place to me.
  • If reports are true, it should be seen before it disappears completely into the surrounding waters.

Things to do in Venice

Grand Canal

The Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, is a long stretch of water running right through the city and is often referred to as 'the most beautiful street in the whole of Venice'. Travelling along this canal and the many others is a great way to see the city, and there are numerous different modes of travel available. Public transport consists mainly of water-buses (vaporetti) and there are also water-taxis (motoscafi), which are faster, more modern motorboats. What could be more romantic than a nighttime, moonlit trip along a Venetian canal? The atmosphere and reflections are quite unforgettable.

Activities: City walk sightseeing

Carnival of Venice( Carnevale di Venezia)

Masks have always been a central feature of the Venetian carnival; traditionally people were allowed to wear them between the festival of Santo Stefano (St.Stephen's Day December 26) and the start of the carnival season and midnight of Shrove Tuesday. They have always been around Venice. As masks were also allowed Ascension and from October 5 to Christmas, people could spend a large proportion of the year in disguise.
Attraction type: Festival

That was me holding my mask project in Grade 11. The theme for this mask was water and i was inspired by the Venetian carnival

St Mark's Square(Piazza San Marco)

St Mark's Square  has always been the nucleus of Venice. The first citadel and church were erected on its stony foundations, the Palazzo Ducale and the Basilica di San Marco respectively. The Basilica's most precious relic is the Pala d'Or, a Venetian-Byzantine gold relief adorned with precious gems. Travellers and pigeons flock to the Piazza with equal zeal. There are worthwhile places of interest to explore beyond the square that include the Museo Correr, the Archaeological Museum and the Museo del Risorgimento, which are housed within the Procuratie Nuova. Attached to the Procuratie Vecchie is the triumphal Torre dell'Orologio.
Attraction type: Town center/square/plaza; Landmark/point of interest

The Bridge of Sighs(Ponte dei Sospiri)
The story of this bridge: The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convictssaw before their imprisonment. The bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells. In reality, the days of inquisitions and summary executions were over by the time the bridge was built and the cells under the palace roof were occupied mostly by small-time criminals.
*some of my friends find this story scary and creepy but i  love this story so much!! I even got a poster of it in my room.

Clock Tower (Torre dell'Orologio)

Entering the Piazza San Marco, the clock tower is one of the first things to be seen, towering above the Procuratie Vecchie (the ancient administration buildings for the republic). Built in 1496, the clock mechanism of that same period still keeps perfect time. The two bronze figures, known as 'Moors' because of their dark colour, pivot to strike the hour.
Address: San Marco, Piazza San Marco

Attraction type: Architectural building; Landmark/point of interest

Restaurants in Venice

Muro
If you found this place once then follow my advice(the advice from the website) – don’t you ever go anywhere else. Let it be the only place to have dinner and Venetian cuisine will remain with you only in pleasant memories.

Rosticceria Gilson
in Venice
At Rosticceria Gilson bistro dishes are heated in the microwave in your presence. But it is a better place to eat at than any neighbouring restaurants where they would do the same but without revealing.

Naranzaria
in Venice
The Grand Canal with its ancient palazzos is considered the main and the most beautiful street in Venice. But it is just not real to have dinner on its bank for the houses grow right out of water, the street having no embankment at all.

Alla Rivetta
They may cook honestly here but all the entourage, dishes, service remind you summer vacations at your grandma’s. Although the personnel here are mostly grandpas, aged waiters wearing trim white shirts.

Venice Warnings or Dangers

1.Pigeons, Venice
It is delightful to give food to a few pigeons if you are in Venice.
However, it is tiresome if too many pigeons exist. The pigeons on St Marks Square, they fly, fly and crash with you, they pissed on you or they attack you if you have some food. The tourists buy grains, directly at the place, and like to feed the pigeons.
At the present, that is forbidden because too many birds destroy the art pieces and the facades of the buildings.
2.Acqua Alta, Venice
The term used in Venice to describe partial flooding caused by exceptionally high tides.
The most extreme acqua alta in 22 years, was on December 1, 2008, when the water level reached 156 cm and flooded more than 90% of the city.
In the near future the global warming may cause a bigger threat by the rising sea level. Be careful by the places on the shore of the sea!
The stairs are slippery and don't  too near; it is dangerous to fall into the water!
3.Pickpockets, Venice
Venice is not a dangerous city so you can walk safely by its canals and campos, just be careful with pickpockets, they use to stay near to the main places and attractions, keep your belongings on safe.
